欧州の2大ランドアーティスト「サイープ」と「デイヴィッド・ポパ」の巨大な作品は目が釘付けになる。左）Saype, Beyond Crisis, Leysin, Switzerland, 2020 ©Valentin Flauraud for Saype、右）David Popa, Born of Nature II, Emäsalo, Finland, 2021 ©David Popa ＜広々とした大地をキャンバスにしたアートが私たちに伝えるものとは？＞ いまやアートの世界でも、サステナビリティは無視できない話題といっていいだろう。サステナビリティをテーマにしたアート展やデザイン展は多く、環境に配慮した材料を使って制作するアーティストも増えている。 ヨーロッパ在住の2人、「サイープ」と「デイヴィッド・ポパ」の巨大な作品は目が釘付けになる。作品の全体像が見えるのは、頭上高くからドローンで撮影したときだ。2人とも生分解性のペイントを使っており、作品は短期間で消える。美しい自然をキャンバスにシンプルな色味で描く、2人のランドアートの世界をぜひ知ってほしい。 元看護師のサイープは、山や公園がキャンバス フランス出身のサイープ（Saype）は、世界を飛び回り、山、海岸沿い、公園に生分解性のペイントをスプレーで吹き付けて絵を描く。昨年12月には、雪山を舞台にし、子ども2人がロープで支え合う姿を描いた作品も発表した。毎回、描く場所の草や土や砂の状況を見て、最適な色調にしている。サイープが描くプロセスはマス目が頼り。マス目の補助線を引いておいた原画を見ながら、小さい杭を等間隔で打って作った地面のマス目に原画を拡大していく。 以前サイープにインタビューした時、「少しでも間違うと絵全体の安定感が崩れるので、失敗はできません。とてつもない集中力を必要とします」と話していた。 最初に話題を呼んだ作品は、2作目のランドアート（2016年作）だった。スイスの山肌の1万平方メートルに描いた男性像「Qu’est-ce qu’un grand Homme ?」で、当時、草の上の作品としては世界最大だと絶賛された。サイープは、アトリエで通常サイズのキャンバスに描くことを基本にしていたが、その後、屋外の作品を次々と手掛けていった。作品への反響は常に大きく、ランドアーティストとして自他共に認めるようになった。 サイープがアートに目覚めたのは14歳の頃。才能はすぐに開花したが、アート以外の分野で経済力を付けるべきという母親のアドバイスで看護師の道に進んだ。看護の仕事は、趣味で続けていた絵への情熱をさらに燃やした。人が亡くなることに接していて人生の意味をとことん考えるようになり、自分の手で何かを生み出していくことが自分にとっては大切だと悟ったのだという。 続きを読む 1 2 3 4 次のページ 【20％オフ】GOHHME 電気毛布 掛け敷き兼用【アマゾン タイムセール】 （※画像をクリックしてアマゾンで詳細を見る）
