Dessers bags brace as Rangers go five points clear of Celtic

Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers scored two goals as Rangers thrashed Hearts 5-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Dessers has now scored 12 goals in 24 league appearances for Rangers this season.

The striker has netted 16 goals in all competitions in this campaign.

Also, the 29-year-old is joint third with Rangers teammate James Tavernier on 12 league goals in the top scorers chart. Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland lead with 18 goals.

His Nigerian teammate Leon Balogun was an unused substitute in the game.

The win saw Rangers, on 67 points, go five points clear of title rivals Celtic.

League champions Celtic will reduce the gap back to two points if they beat Motherwell on Sunday.

In Saturday’s fixture, Dessers scored in the 44th minute to put Rangers 3-0 ahead.

Just three minutes into the second half, he grabbed his second goal to put his side 4-0 up.
